At Worry Free, we pride ourselves on being involved in our community. It is our belief that local businesses should have a positive impact on the community they operate in. Over the past two decades, we have worked to support our local community by sponsoring hockey and ringette teams, clearing local rinks and participating in community days like Canada Day.
In 2018, we found a way to do more for our community by hosting a Christmas Campaign fundraiser for the Orleans Cumberland Community Resource Centre (OCCRC). The OCCRC provides numerous programs for local residents including a food bank, EarlyON Child and Family Centre, Youth Programs, Counselling, Education and Employment Services, Housing Support, Senior and Health Services to name a few.
Support our local Community Resource Centre (OCCRC)
In 2018, we heard about a need for support in our community. We hosted a fundraiser and food drive in support of the Orleans Cumberland Community Resource Centre’s Christmas Program and were able to raise $4,850 and numerous boxes of food donations. We added to our generous clients’ donations with a donation of 100 turkeys so that all of our local families could enjoy a Christmas dinner.
On average, 550 individuals access the OCCRC food bank every month, and over 250 families accessed the food bank during the holiday season last year. Your donation of non-perishable items will have a direct impact on local families this year.
Schedule a pick-up OR Drop off some non-perishable food items at our Worry Free office until Monday, December 2, 2019
Make a small donation to the Orleans-Cumberland CRC to make a huge difference for a great cause!
If all our customers gave just a toonie to this campaign, we could easily hit our goal! By skipping one coffee (or half a coffee if you’re a Starbucks-lover), you could help ensure everyone has a Merry Christmas this year.
a Worry Free Community
Sponsor local sports teams
Throughout the past 20 years of operations, we have sponsored numerous sports teams to ensure children in our community have the chance to participate in team sports.
Clear local rinks
Another way we like to help out our local community is by clearing neighbourhood rinks. Most neighbourhood rinks are maintained by volunteers who work tirelessly to provide a fun and safe place for the neighbourhood children to enjoy. Any time we can help these wonderful people out by clearing a rink after a heavy snowfall, we are happy to lend a hand.
Celebrate our community
We think celebrating together is an important way to build community and togetherness. A strong community cares for each other and looks out for one another.
That’s why we like to support the Orleans Canada Day celebrations as often as we can. Also this year, we will be participating in Santa’s Parade of Lights on November 30th! We are already planning our float and we can’t wait to see all of you out there!
